2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on building a positive, safe and inclusive community.

We are doing this to see an improvement in self regulation skills and the ability to solve conflicts with peers, which will improve overall student well being.

Key Actions or Strategies

  • Teaching, modelling and reinforcing self regulation and co-regulation skills.
  • Focusing on how to solve conflicts in appropriate ways.
  • Acknowledging positive acts through our Firebird Values by building a sense of community within the school community and beyond.

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about the strategies they have learned to calm their body and try practicing these at home.
  • Try discussing different ways they can resolve conflicts at home with your child.
  • Check out this resource https://www.uwo.ca/fhs/lwm/teaching/dld2_2020_21/Krilis_dld2.pdf   about supporting your child's self regulation and learning how to co-regulate.
